On September 19, 2022, a Baltimore City Circuit Court judge, Melissa Phinn, officially vacated the 2000 murder conviction of Adnan Syed, the subject of the groundbreaking podcast Serial. The ruling came after prosecutors, led by Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, discovered new evidence—including possible alternative suspects and previously undisclosed evidence—that cast serious doubt on the reliability of the cellphone data and a key witness’s testimony used during the original trial.

Many of us, long-term supporters of Adnan and his innocence were there to watch him walk free–a truly poignant moment.
